HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection Sprinkler contractors conducting business in Idaho are required to submit and maintain a $2,000 surety bond with the Idaho Division of Building Safety (IDBS). These surety bonds guarantee that the principal (contractor) performs all work in accordance with all provisions of Idaho state standards and law. If an individual incurs financial damages due to the principal’s wrongful acts, a claim can be filed against the bond. Any monies paid out by the surety must be reimbursed by the principal.
