Iowa Contractor License Surety Bonds

The Iowa Division of Labor and other municipalities have set requirements for contractors to be licensed and bonded. All construction contractors operating in Iowa who make more than $2,000 a year must be registered with the Division of Labor. One of the most common bond types is the Out-of-State Contractor Bond. This is a requirement for out-of-state contractors who desire to perform construction work in Iowa. A $25,000 surety bond is required as part of Iowa Code Chapter 91C. Other cities that have bond requirements in Iowa include: Sioux City, Johnston, Eldridge, Davenport and Bettendorf. Please contact the specific entity to confirm bonding amounts and process.
